Is $103 for both front pads and rotors for a 99 Honda Civic a really good price? Do brakes have bearings??

tuga bear , Thursday, 12th of August 2010 11:59:18 PM

My pads and rotors on my 99 Civic (94,000 miles) need to be replaced
tuga bear
soon. This power seller on ebay is selling this package containing both

front rotors and front ceramic pads for $103.According to his feedback he

has sold a few of these packages before, his feedback score is also rather

high (96% positive of over 4,000 sales).

What are the chances

that these would not fit?People have advised me to not buy brake parts
online due to risking a possible bad fitment.l would not wanna go through
the trouble having to return them and pay shipping again/wait for refund,
etc.

Also, someone told me that whenever pads and rotors are
replaced it is wise to replace the bearings as well.l was unaware that
brake systems have bearings, is this true? And if so, do l have to replace
them? And would l also need to replace the calipers?l have no idea what a
caliper even is, however l am aware that it is a crucial part of the brake
system. When the rotors and pads are worn, do calipers also need to be
replaced?l really hope not as l do not wanna spend a lot.

Your advice is appreciated.Thanks!

may be able to buy all for 125, brake pads may run you about 70.00 &
rotors about 25 each.; when you do the brake work, be SURE, that & slid
points are greased with a synthic brake grease, clean everything with a
can of brake clean. the calipers should not have to be replaced unless
thee is a leakage around one of the seals or line input. GOOD LUCK>>>>>

That is very cheap for a set of pads and rotors. I would

suggest to pay a little more and get a brand name. I got rotors and pads

from EBC for $180 and they are great with performance and are fairly

quiet. I wouldn't recommend drilled and slotted rotors unless you are

racing the car because it is not necessary and will only wear out quicker

and be louder for daily driving. If you want the best, longest lasting
rotors I would look into CRYO treated rotors but they go for $200/set.

You can beat this price at Auto Zone and have a warranty.

Personally, I would not worry about the calipers if not leaking. They are

the hydraulics that actually set the brake pads.

wont' fit? AND, his feedback is 99.6% which is much better than 96%.

If it were me, and the $103 PLUS shipping is less than I can spend in the
store, then I'd do it.

As for bearings, they are part of the axle not the brake system.
